Rabbit Repellents This rabbit and squirrel repellent’s time-release granules can be used to keep rabbits out of garden beds or ground cover plantings, where the granules will generally retain their repelling power for up to two months. Keep in mind, however, that the ongoing existence of food plants near the repellent will continue to attract rabbits and may in time cause them to overcome their aversion. Expect a 20-ounce jar of granules to treat an outdoor garden area of 250 square feet.
An animal control mainstay, Ro-pel® gives a harmless but very bitter taste to all chewables and edibles that you want to protect. So it has a well-deserved place in the work of repelling not just rabbits but also raccoons, squirrels, mice, rats, beavers, dogs, cats, birds, and even deer. To visit web sites dealing with all these creatures, go to our home page, scroll halfway down, and click on the appropriate site. Ro-pel® also protects seeds and bulbs. A simple soaking for one minute in Ro-pel® before planting will make your seeds bulbs unpalatable to rabbits and other foraging animals. In dealing with rabbits, use Ro-pel® to give flower garden, ground cover, and other plants a repelling taste that strongly discourages the rabbits. Because many plants grow fast, and rabbits will find that new shoots taste just fine, this spraying must be repeated every few weeks during the growing season. Even so, Ro-pel® provides a sound way of dealing with the rabbit problem in non-vegetable areas. |
